ABOUT
ICG 669, a prominent organization in the film industry, sought to modernize and overhaul its three websites to create visually stunning, on-brand, and engaging user experiences for all visitors.


PROJECT GOAL

  1. Revamp and modernize the three ICG 669 websites to create visually appealing, on-brand, and engaging experiences for users.
  2. Develop a seamless integration of the visual aesthetic across all three websites, including the Member Portal.
  3. Produce a UI (user interface) kit to facilitate the consistent implementation of the visual design across all websites.
  4. Collaborate closely with the client's preferred developer to ensure a cohesive and high-quality end result.


UNIQUE PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS

  1. Working with the film industry presented unique challenges, such as understanding the specific needs and preferences of ICG 669's target audience.
  2. The project involved not just one, but three websites, requiring a comprehensive and consistent approach to design and user experience.


PROCESS
As the designer on the ICG 669 project, my responsibilities included overseeing the ground-up revamp of the three websites to ensure they were visually stunning and on brand while delivering an engaging user experience. To achieve this, we followed a comprehensive design process that included the following key stages:

  1. Discovery and Research: We began with a thorough discovery phase to understand the organization's goals, target audience, and key challenges. This involved conducting an analytics audit, content audit, and competitor analysis to identify the primary needs of the target audience and develop a robust foundation for the project.
  2. Information Architecture and User Flow: Based on the insights gathered during the discovery phase, we created a sitemap and information architecture that mapped out the website's content and structure. This helped to ensure that the website was easy to navigate and provided an intuitive user experience.
  3. Wireframing and Prototyping: With the information architecture in place, we moved onto wireframing the website's layout and design. This was followed by developing interactive prototypes to test and refine the user experience.
  4. UI Design and Development: Once the wireframes and prototypes were finalized, we moved onto the UI design and development phase. This involved creating high-fidelity designs that were visually stunning and on brand while delivering an engaging user experience. We also developed a UI style guide to ensure consistency across all websites.
  5. Collaboration with Developer: We worked closely with the client's preferred developer to ensure that the visual aesthetic was mirrored across all websites, including the Member Portal build. We produced a UI kit to aid this process and ensure consistency across all websites.
  6. Testing and Launch: Prior to launch, we conducted extensive testing to ensure that the website was functioning as intended and provided an optimal user experience. Following successful testing, the websites were launched.

Throughout the design process, we employed an agile methodology, with regular communication and progress updates to ensure alignment across the team and to address potential risks effectively. This approach allowed us to maintain a high level of quality assurance, adapt to evolving requirements, and deliver a successful overhaul and modernization of the ICG 669 websites.


RESULTS

The successful overhaul and modernization of the three ICG 669 websites resulted in visually stunning, on-brand, and engaging user experiences. The UI kit and close collaboration with the client's preferred developer ensured a consistent visual aesthetic across all websites, including the Member Portal. The improvements in design and user experience received positive feedback from users, reflecting the effectiveness of the project in meeting the organization's goals and catering to the target audience's needs.

The launch of the initial 3 websites was so comprehensive that it paved the way for the successful launch of 2 additional versions. This is a testament to the effectiveness of the initial build and its ability to meet the organization's evolving needs.
